Dental Assistant
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
Job description:
We are dedicated to providing the highest standard of micro-endodontic care in a comfortable and compassionate environment. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our team and help us deliver exceptional care to our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Chairside Assisting: Provide four-handed dentistry alongside the endodontist during root canal therapies, retreatments, and endodontic microsurgery (apicoectomies).
- Microscope Navigation: Assist efficiently while the doctor is operating under a dental operating microscope.
- Imaging: Expose and process high-quality digital radiographs and assist with CBCT (3D) imaging.
- Infection Control: Maintain rigorous sterilization protocols for all endodontic instruments (files, rotaries, surgical handpieces) and ensure operatories are thoroughly turned over following OSHA guidelines.
- Patient Care: Greet and prep patients, accurately record medical and dental histories, take vital signs, and provide clear post-operative instructions.
- Clinical Organization: Manage inventory of specialized endodontic supplies (gutta-percha, sealers, bioceramics, irrigation solutions) and ensure rooms are fully stocked.
- Administrative Support: Occasionally assist the front desk with scheduling, patient communication, and treatment documentation in the practice management software.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 1+ years of dental assisting experience preferred. Previous experience in an endodontic or oral surgery setting is highly preferred. A willingness to learn is also welcome
- Licensing (New Jersey Fact-Based Requirement): Holding a valid New Jersey Dental Radiologic Technologist (RHS) license to legally operate dental x-ray equipment in the state. (As mandated by the NJ Department of Environmental Protection) is preferred.
- Certifications: Current CPR/BLS certification required.
- Skills: Strong understanding of endodontic terminology, instruments, and procedures. Familiarity with dental practice management software
- Attributes: Excellent communication skills, high emotional intelligence to ease anxious patients, and a highly organized approach to clinical workflows.
